How much are you paying or should you pay for a sanitary bin service?
Sanitary waste is a controlled waste and should be removed by an authorised waste carrier to the point of disposal.
How much should you be paying for such a service?
The price you pay depends on three main factors:
- Number of units installed
- Location
- Number of services
The number of units is actually the most important price factor as a service company has to travel to your premises to provide a service. The travel and staff costs are the greatest overheads for a service company so servicing a site with many sanitary bins should result in a lower price.
Location obviously plays a big part as well. A service company covering a city centre can perform many more calls per day than say a rural route.
The number of services is also an important factor. Many companies will only offer 8 services per annum but a lot of businesses will be surprised to know that many independants will offer 12 services a year i.e. every month, for the same price. It is not surprising really, scheduling calls on a monthly basis can be a lot easier than scheduling just 8 service calls a year. We believe that 12 service visits a year is much better for the customer as the sanitizing chemicals used will offer better protection when serviced on a more regular basis.
So, How much should you be paying? Here we give a guide of typical prices that are freely available from many service companies.
Main City Centres - It is doubtful that anyone should be paying much more than £120 per year for 12 services per annum, even for a single sanitary bin. The internet has recently helped to drive down prices for sanitary bin servicing and many companies will typically offer servicing from about £75 to £100 a bin on 12 services.
Large Towns - Similar to city centres but prices should again be not much more that £100 to £120 per sanitary bin per annum.
Rural Locations - It is reasonable given transport and wage costs to be paying more for these locations. In our opinion then prices could increase to up to say £140 per sanitary bin per annum depending upon location.
These indicative prices should be even less when more units are to be serviced at the same site. High volume users such as schools, colleges, large offices or factories should expect greatly reduced prices from those listed above.
Any organisation paying more than about £100 even for a single sanitary bin per annum will probably find a better deal elsewhere.
